Clerkenwell Workshops, Mackay + Partners latest "recycling project", announces the completion of its ETFE (Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene) courtyard roof.

A system of welded cushions restrained around their perimeter by aluminium extrusions, the ETFE roof was fastened mid-week to the roof's supporting metal structure. The cushions were then inflated with low-pressure air to provide insulation and resist wind loads. Highly transparent, the resulting cover transmits maximum natural light allowing the covered area to feel uncovered.

The roof forms the heart of the circulation to the project, covering the lifts and stair 2 access to buildings A and B.
