Millwall  London

This project is essentially a plan to keep Millwall Football Club in the local community. We were asked to look at three sites adjoining The Den, as the ground is known, as part of its renewal programme.

Our masterplan takes in the community centre, car parks and the stadium itself, which is leased to Millwall Football Club by the council.

We have proposed a mixed development that includes affordable housing, student accommodation and retail on the existing Lions Centre site. There will be a new hotel and more retail on Stadium Avenue, on the site of the current car park and a new state-of-the-art home for the Millwall Community Scheme on Senegal Way.

The aim is for the club and the community centre to do even more than they already do for local young people.

“It’s not easy to come up with a really innovative scheme to redevelop land around a major football stadium but Mackay + Partners produced ideas which not only complied with all the health and safety and operational requirements but also exceeded the aspirations of both Millwall Football Club and its community scheme, the Millwall Community Trust. We have been very pleased with their work.”
